Frequently Asked Questions.
All clients who are getting any work done for the first time at our facility will be considered a new client and will pay the new client price. You must email a photo of your brows for evaluation prior to booking.
Microblading is a process that involves a manual tool consisting of tiny, fine-point needles (instead of a tattoo gun) that make up a small disposable blade and handle (picture a very small tool that looks like a rat-tail comb) to scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin. The result? Realistic-looking brow hairs that don’t wash off.
Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Some have compared the feeling to be similar to plucking/tweezing their eyebrows, which depending on whether or not you pluck/tweeze often, may or may not be painful. We do apply a lidocaine, which is a numbing cream that helps make the procedure as pleasant as possible. Some have described the whole procedure to be so relaxing that they actually fell asleep.
It depends with each person, but on average about 1 to 2 years. The factors that affect how long they last are: the person’s age, skin type, sun exposure, skin care products you use, and how active your lifestyle is.
7 to 14 days for the initial healing, depending on the person.
For the initial brow procedure, about 1.5 to 3 hours. For touch-ups, it is typically about 1 to 2 hours.
The most common automatic disqualifiers are if you are:
- under the age of 18,
- pregnant, breast feeding
- prone to keloids
- undergoing chemotherapy
- have a pacemaker / major heart problems
- viral infections / diseases.
For at least 1 week, avoid any exercise, since sweat and oils can cause the hairstrokes to fade faster, blur and spread out.
Nothing on or near the brows for at least 1 week. You may wear eye makeup, and foundation, etc., but just don’t go near the brows!
The 2nd session is highly recommended to fill in the areas where the skin might have rejected the pigments from the initial procedure and to add final touches to complete the brows.
If you have used accutane in the past 12 months then you will not be eligible for this procedure. You should not have a pace maker, be going through chemo, or be under the age of 18. Understand that medicine changes the body’s chemistry, which can cause the pigments not to attach to the body’s cells. Therefore, pigment retention might not take so well for people who are on medications. Results vary for certain individuals. Sandy may require you to provide medical authorization from your physician to proceed with getting microblading done.
Unlike tattoos that last forever, microblading is a form of semi-permanent tattooing. Microblading creates thinner, more precise, hairlike strokes that aren’t as deeply ingrained into the skin as hair strokes created by a tattoo gun. The pigment also differs from that of a tattoo because (1) it’s only semi-permanent, which means your body eventually ends up metabolizing it so it fades away, and (2) the dye particles are less concentrated in microblading ink than in the ink of a traditional tattoo.
